Recently, Meta Developers Circle Dhaka Organised a series of workshop in different Universities of Bangladesh as “#Metaversemania SparkAR Creators’ Day”  for giving a new idea to youth  for making their own filter on Facebook, Instagram and  how they can publish their  epitome which is made by SparkAR. Till now, meta developer circle Dhaka has organised several workshops to train the participants about SparkAR, but the University based training sessions were held for the first time.

The main purpose of this project was to enhance the knowledge of the students on the most advanced augmented reality creation tool and to let them create and publish their own augmented reality camera effects for Facebook and Instagram. The aim of this program was to organise compelling workshops on graphics designing, creating Spark AR filters, and becoming a pro SparkAR developer among university students who are engaged in different university-based clubs/career counselling centres. Young faculty members and admin officials were also welcomed to join.

The program was composed at different Universities in Bangladesh such as

  • Daffodil International Academy, Dhaka
  • United International University, Dhaka
  • Rajshahi (Multi University/Institutions)
  • East West University, Dhaka and
  • BRAC University, Dhaka

The workshop in Daffodil International Academy was organised on 21 and 22 August 2022, United International University on 23 and 24 August 2022, Rajshahi on 28 and 29 August 2022, East West University on 7 and 8 September 2022 and BRAC University on 25 and 26 September 2022.

It was basically a two days in-person workshop for the University students and each day a 3 hrs session was taken where around 30 participants joined from each of the University. So a total of 10 days of sessions took place and a Facebook featured SparkAR developer took the sessions. On the first day, the participants learnt about basic graphics designing, basic SparkAR tools, basic photoshop and basic editings. On the second day the participants got training on making filters and effects for facebook and instagram and publishing them. 3 participants were selected according to their performance in the workshop, who got some special gifts as winners. All the participants who attended the booth days sessions received the certificate of participation as well.

Nowadays, the use of Facebook, Instagram, and other social media platforms is expanding rapidly. Now, with the help of augmented reality (AR), we can transmit information more visibly and create incredible interactive experiences. Learning SparkAR and producing graphics and filters for social media is becoming more and more popular as a result. The sessions on SparkAR supported the students in learning them.
