Cyberbullying: Can it be controlled?

Cyberbullying is defined as the use of electronic communication to bully a person, typically by sending messages of an intimidating or threatening nature. According to an article published in Comparitech, 59.9 % of the youngsters aged from 14 to 18 face cyberbullying regularly. These atrocities are conducted mostly via social media platforms. It is a social problem that is increasing on a daily basis. Hence, it is of utmost importance that we take the necessary steps to eliminate it as much as possible:

Refrain from blaming your ownself:

Just because they are doing something wrong to you or with you, does not mean you deserve it. You have to be mentally very strong while believing in your instilled moralities. Make sure you do not doubt your self-worth because of these.

Collect evidence:

While your parents may or may not believe the injustice some people are doing to you in order to break your mental sanity, you must be adamant about proving yourself. Hence, you should try to obtain all the evidence for future references.

Confront your bully:

As you are not the one mentally harassing someone, you have the full right to expose that individual who is creating rifts in your mind by spreading rumors or making negative remarks over the internet. Always be vocal and confident.

Consider accepting help:

When you are in a crisis like this, it is very normal that there are some helping hands willing to solve this problem with you, if not for you. Give them a chance to pull you out of this dilemma by letting your guards down.

In conclusion, cyberbullying is not acceptable under any circumstance whatsoever. People who are conducting such patterns of toxicity should be recognized as criminals under the cyber security law and punished accordingly.
